Making the most of your leap day
If you had an extra 24 hours, what would you do with it? Every four years we are given the opportunity answer this question with leap day on Feb. 29. This year, you will have an extra day on the calendar to utilize. Perhaps you need some extra time to catch up on those projects you procrastinated on or maybe you need to relax with some self-care activities. No matter how to choose to spend this day, we have some ideas for you to consider.
Catch up on homework
This time of year can be overwhelming with midterms in full swing. If you are feeling stressed about your workload or an upcoming exam, use this leap day to hunker down and study. With that said, give yourself grace. Maybe you study for a couple hours in the library and then meet up with some friends for lunch!
Hit the gym
If you had a New Year’s resolution to be more active this year and haven’t gotten into a routine yet, use these 24 hours to get started. Find a friend and visit the Rec Center, and pick another day/time next week so you can hold each other accountable.
Visit the beautiful areas in CU’s backyard
The beauty about going to college in Boulder is that you have access to some of the most beautiful scenery right in your backyard. Chautauqua Park in Boulder is a short walk or bus ride away and has hiking trails for all levels. If you have a car on campus, consider taking the scenic drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park to see everything it has to offer. No matter if you are in town or outside of it, there are countless opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.
Self-care day
Perhaps with 24 extra hours you just want to relax and do the activities you wish you had time for during a normal school week. That’s perfectly okay! Do what makes you happy, whether that’s organizing your living space or visiting your favorite local restaurant.
Hop on the Ski Bus
Have you had a chance to use the CU Boulder Ski Bus yet? If you are a fan of downhill skiing and want to spend this leap day outside on the slopes, this is a great option. The CU Ski Bus provides students affordable and convenient way to get to the ski slopes and back without driving. On Feb. 29, the ski busses will be going to Copper Mountain and Breckenridge.
Extreme Bowling at The Connection
Another option would be to experience events happening right on campus. At 7 p.m. there will be Extreme Bowling at The Connection featuring black lights, colored lane lights and color pins. It’s the perfect way to unwind and have fun with friends.
