Things to do this Valentine's Day
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Whether you are in a relationship or not, Feb. 14 is the perfect excuse to celebrate everything you love about your significant other, your friends, your family and even yourself! While the holiday may be considered a “Hallmark Holiday”, that doesn’t mean you can’t spread a little extra love and treat yourself this time of year using some of the ideas we’ve compiled below.
Self-care day
It is important to show yourself love any day of the year, but treat yourself a little extra this Valentine’s Day. Pamper yourself with everything you love to do. Perhaps it’s taking a much needed nap to catch up on sleep or indulging in your very own bag of chocolates.
Heart Opener Yoga and Chocolates
The Rec Center and Health Promotion are hosting this event on Friday, Feb. 14 from 5 – 7:30 p.m. in the Rec Center, Studio 1 and 2. Have some Valentine’s Day fun with heart opener yoga followed by valentines and chocolate. The perfect combo if you ask us!
Get a group of friends together for a movie night
Valentine’s Day can be a great time to meet up with your friends to spend some quality time together! We suggest a movie night. There are countless love-themed movies out there to get in the holiday spirit, but if you aren’t a fan of the classic romantic comedy, find one you all can enjoy.
Winter Bike to Work Day
While it may be Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14 is also Winter Bike to Work Day. Celebrate your love for the saddle by participating in this local event! Visit the different stations around Boulder to connect with the community and get some free snacks.
Plan a date night with your significant other
If you are in a relationship, take this time to plan a fun date night! Each of you can plan a portion of the night. One of you can choose a fun dinner spot while the other person picks an activity to do together. We are big fans of getting outside and taking a walk or hike.
Spread kindness
Spreading love and kindness every day is an important thing to do, but make an extra effort this Valentine’s Day. Perhaps give a stranger a compliment as you are standing in line at the dining halls or text someone you haven’t talked to in a while to check in.
These ideas only scratch the surface of activities you can do to celebrate Valentine’s Day. If this holiday isn’t for you though, it’s okay to treat it as just another Friday. But let’s be honest, Friday’s are always something to celebrate.
