Know before you go: Involvement Fair

Are you looking to get involved, or thinking of joining a student group or club? Attend the Involvement Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the UMC Glenn Miller Ballroom.

Similar to the Be Involved Fair in the fall, the spring Involvement Fair can help you find your place at CU. Sometimes campus can seem huge, and joining a club or group can make it seem smaller. Meeting people outside the classroom can help you feel connected to a community on campus. And there will be free food and giveaways, too! Here are some things to know before the fair next week.

The fair will be organized into different categories

The easiest way to explore all the student organizations at CU Boulder is by categories. Organizations and groups are separated by the following categories:

  • Academic
  • Recreation and wellness
  • Business and entrepreneurship
  • Cultural and international
  • Social
  • Environmental clubs
  • Social justice and activism
  • Religion and spirituality
  • Art, music and entertainment
  • Community service and more!

Browse these categories and groups before the fair on BuffConnect.

Explore with an open mind

If you have time, walk around the entire fair and speak with as many groups as possible. Even if something doesn’t immediately spark your interest, keep an open mind and learn more. You never know what may speak to you at the fair. You might even discover a new interest or passion. Look for and consider opportunities that could give you experience to add to your resume in the future.

Ask questions

At the fair, ask questions to get an idea if an opportunity is a good fit for you. Here are some examples:

  • What does your organization do?
  • What does it look like being a part of your organization?
  • How can I get involved?
  • What kind of time commitment is there to be involved with your organization?
  • When do you meet?
  • Where are you located?
  • What resources does your department have for students?

The spring Involvement Fair is hosted by the Center for Student Involvement. Find more ways to get involved on campus by visiting their website.
