What you need to know for finals
It may seem early to think about final exams and deadlines, but getting organized now can help you toward the end of the semester when things feel busy. Here are some reminders and tips to help prepare you for finals.
Find out when your finals are
Check your syllabus or talk to your instructor to determine the dates of your exams and any final projects, papers or presentations. You can also check the finals calendar. Be aware that some courses have common final exam times that go against the weekly meeting time.
Important dates to know
- Nov. 1 is the last day to adjust your finals schedule. If you have three or more finals on the same day or two exams scheduled at the same time, be sure to adjust your schedule before Nov. 1.
- Dec. 12 is Late Night Breakfast. This event has free food and fun activities and is a great way to take a break before finals begin.
- Dec. 13 is Reading Day. There are no classes or exams on Reading Day. Use this time for studying and preparing for exams.
Use academic resources
If you’re struggling in class, now’s a great time to find help. Even if it’s a class you aren’t interested in, it can still count towards a degree and you’ll want to do the best you can. Ask a classmate, visit office hours or a help lab, or join (or start!) a study group.
