Lecturers

Ethnic Studies (ETHN) hires temporary teaching faculty in the Lecturer job code when a faculty member is on sabbatical or other leave or demand necessitates additional course offerings. Key responsibilities will be teaching in person, online, or a combination thereof.  The College of Arts and Sciences’ hiring practices and application requirements are detailed here. Compensation for Lecturers in ETHN is determined by the College of Arts and Sciences Level A policy.

Graders

Ethnic Studies (ETHN) regularly hires CU undergraduate or graduate students as graders for ETHN undergraduate courses. Graders may be hired in any semester but are most commonly hired for summer courses. Key responsibilities will be to assist in grading exams and other evaluative materials in consultation with the instructor of record. 

Graders must be current/continuing CU students in good academic standing and should have either taken & successfully completed the course or have previous experience serving as the Teaching Assistant; Instructor; or Grader for the course. Students who provide credible evidence of relevant knowledge of the course material may also be considered for a Grader appointment. 

Total compensation for the semester is determined by the enrollment of the course the Grader is appointed to. ETHN graders are paid a flat rate of $35 per semester for each student that is enrolled in the course on the census date.

If you are interested in an ETHN grader position, please send the Program Manager the following information: a 1-page résumé of experience; a list of ETHN courses you have completed, taught, assisted, or graded for, and your role for each; and a brief description of any other relevant experience.

Student Hourly (Research)

Ethnic Studies (ETHN) hires hourly student assistants (undergraduate or graduate) to support faculty research activities, when opportunities and funding are available. Key responsibilities and hiring ranges for research support positions are determined by the complexity and skills required for the particular project, in accordance with the policies described on the Office of Student Employment website.

All ETHN Student Hourly positions are subject to the university’s Office of Student Employment regulations, including but not limited to the eligibility requirements and maximum hours policies.

Student Hourly (Administrative)

Ethnic Studies (ETHN) hires hourly student assistants (undergraduate or graduate) to support the administration of academic programs, working with department administrative staff, as Office Assistants. Key responsibilities and hiring ranges follow the Office of Student Employment policy, as stated here. All ETHN Student Hourly positions are subject to the university’s Office of Student Employment regulations, including but not limited to the eligibility requirements and maximum hours policies.
