Program Edition - September 8, 2021

The fall 2021 application for the Student Emergency Fund is open. The Student Emergency Fund provides support to CU Boulder students experiencing a crisis that could adversely affect their semester. The intent of the funding is to support students experiencing a temporary financial hardship as a result of COVID-19.

*The funds are limited and not intended to provide ongoing relief for recurring expenses. Not all applications will be approved, even if a student meets the eligibility criteria.

We are thrilled to take the lessons learned from this past year to offer both in-person and remote services to better reflect the needs of ENVD students.

FYE First-Year Mentors will host Caleb Wright, Manager of ENVD Academic Support Centers, to talk through everything you need to know about the Digital Media Center. A small activity on file organization and strategies will take place during the event so that you can get a headstart on staying organized as assignments begin.

Assistant Professor Shawhin Roudbari will be co-facilitating a "learn-in" on identity, justice and pedagogy, hosted by the Dark Matter University (DMU) Collective at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture of the City College of New York (CCNY) on Thursday, Sept. 9. Roudbari and team lead Germane Barnes will be collaborating with Under The Grid as part of the 2021 Chicago Architecture Biennial, which opens on Sept. 17. Their project is a community-led reactivation of an empty court and lot in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood in collaboration with youth art and design groups. The site will be up through December. Roudbari will be joining Germane Barnes, Future Firm and VAPAA Collective for a public lecture on "Architecture’s Social, Ecological, and Political Agency" hosted by MAS Context on Sept. 21. This online lecture is free but registration is required. Register for the lecture.

You’re invited to discuss the evolving nature of leadership, a topic highlighted in the Summer 2021 issue of the CU Boulder alumni magazine. Former Denver City Council President Albus Brooks (RelSt’01) will moderate a discussion with Shilo Brooks, faculty director of the Engineering Leadership Program, Stefanie K. Johnson, associate professor of organizational leadership and information analytics, and Brian Muriithi (AeroEngr’22), a student in the Engineering Leadership Program.
