Celebrating 150 Years of Teacher Buffs
For 150 years, CU Boulder has been preparing outstanding teachers who strengthen Colorado’s schools and communities. In 1876, when territorial legislators first imagined this university, they insisted that it include a Normal School dedicated to preparing high‑quality educators. That commitment to supporting excellent teachers and educational leaders has endured for a century and a half—and we are grateful you are part of that long, powerful legacy.
To show our appreciation for Colorado’s teachers as we celebrate the university’s 150th anniversary, the School of Education is launching a new initiative, Teacher Buffs, to raise the visibility and honor the impact of our Teacher Buffs across the state.

The School of Education is teaming up with CU Buffs Athletics to celebrate all educators at the Educators' Day at the football game on Sept. 12, called Extra Yard for Teachers. Educators can secure discounted tickets for the game against Weber State and receive an exclusive Educators' Day CU pennant.
Additionally, the Buffs will publicly honor some educators at the game that day, and one teacher will be selected for a gift card to make a donation of their choosing. Consider nominating educators who go the "extra yard" in their classrooms.
