Lightning Jay

A former elementary, middle, and high school social studies in Brooklyn, NY and Minneapolis, MN, Lightning Jay is a teacher educator and researcher who works to ensure that all students have access to high-quality, authentic, and relevant social studies instruction. His research weaves together work on democratic education, teacher preparation, social studies curriculum, and classroom discourse. Prior to coming to CU Boulder, Lightning completed his doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education and was faculty in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership at Binghamton University, SUNY.
