Professor Perkin’s research focuses on single molecule measurements of biological systems. His research delves into outstanding questions such as how motor proteins transduce chemical energy into physical motion and how do the structure and dynamics of membrane proteins affect their functions? Perkin’s Group develops and applies high precision measurements using optical traps and atomic force microscopes to answer these and other interesting questions.
