Professor Leinwand, known internationally for her research on genetic heart defects, is the chief scientific officer for the University of Colorado's Biofrontiers Institute. Founded in 2003, the Institute strives to foster new research, instructional methods, technology and collaborations within a variety of fields including life sciences, physical sciences, math, computational sciences and engineering.
