This course transformation broadens access to research experiences while promoting scientific thinking, collaboration, and career readiness. This project reimagines an upper-level biology course as a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) where students explore how drugs are discovered and how they combat antibiotic resistance and cancer. Using backward design and three-dimensional learning, the course helps students think and work like scientists through hands-on research, reflection, and collaboration. Generative AI tools support both teaching and learning, making research more accessible and engaging for all students.
