Alea Richmond Akins

Alea Richmond Akins serves as the Assistant Dean of Student Success for the College of Communication, Media, Design and Information. In her current role, she provides leadership and oversight of functional areas related to undergraduate education and student progress from matriculation to graduation and beyond. Her portfolio includes management of strategic enrollment, student retention and student success initiatives, new student orientation, academic coaching, advising and student support services, First Year Experience, professional and career development, and support for students on academic difficulty.

Alea holds a M.S. in Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, a B.A. in Journalism and a B.A. in Language, Literature & Cultures with an emphasis in Spanish from Colorado State University. Alea is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Manabi, Ecuador.
