Sept. 23: BBC Pop Up in residence at CU-Boulder

BBC video journalist Jack Garland covers conflict around the world -- including recent work in South Sudan, Afghanistan and Ukraine. He’ll share his insights at "An Introduction to Conflict Journalism," on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. in Room 220 of the Education Building on the CU-Boulder campus.

Garland will show three short films he’s made during his work in South Sudan, Afghanistan and Ukraine, examining the practical ways journalists go about telling stories of war and conflict.  He’ll also ask students for help in debating some of the common ethical decisions journalists are forced to make in hostile environments, often while under fire.

Don’t miss the rare opportunity to meet a journalist with Garland’s range of experience and to hear the advice and perspective he has to offer.

Garland's visit is part of the BBC's month-long residency in Boulder, where the network is launching its BBC Pop Up, its first mobile bureau in the U.S. The team is producing stories about the Boulder community, many of them based on residents’ own ideas.
