Dani R. Soibelman is a first-year PhD student in Organizational Communication. Her research interests group around dismantling normative structures in favor of nurturing, equitable systems. Dani's M.A. studies at the University of Texas at Austin centered around how urban geography shapes community needs and resilience strategies of queer communities. In addition to community organizing, Soibelman is committed to reshaping the landscape of the public speaking classroom. Her recent publication in Argumentation & Advocacy uncovered the history of ableism in public speaking pedagogy and promoted practices that decentralize the white, male, non-disabled speaker. Dani's passions include jazz, protected bike lanes, and abolitionist texts.
