Kristella Montiegel

Kristella (she/her) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and a former recipient of CU Boulder's Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship for Diversity Program. She is a language and social interaction researcher who received her PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 2022. She takes a micro-analytical approach to examining communicative practices and patterns in both educational and political contexts. Her primary research methods are Conversation Analysis and Ethnography. She is published in Communication Monographs, Discourse Studies, Deafness & Education International, and other journals. Her current research projects are funded by the National Communication Association and the Spencer Education Foundation. Outside of work, Kristella loves hiking, camping, reading mystery/thriller novels, and spoiling her two dogs.
