Pooja Iyer is an Assistant Professor of Advertising. Pooja’s research lies at the intersection of big data, privacy regulation, and personalisation. Utilizing mixed methodology, she studies the impact of big data on emerging media, the politics of platforms, and technology’s impact on consumer behaviour.
Considering herself an application-based pragmatic scholar, her academic research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences such Journal of Business Research, TPRC, AEJMC, and ICA among others. As a publicly engaged scholar, she also has written white papers for the Center for Media Engagement at UT Austin and research articles on Tech Policy Press.
Informed by her extensive industry experience for over a decade in strategic media planning, Pooja has a keen interest in bridging the gap between academia and industry. She has participated in many industry events, as well as guest lectured at Texas Christian University, Texas State University and the University of Texas at Austin.
Pooja holds a B.S. in Electronic Media from Madras University, India (M.O.P. Vaishnav College); M.A. in Advertising from Syracuse University; and Ph.D. in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin
