Deepti Khedekar has worked nationally and internationally in various marketing roles including marketing coordinator, marketing consultant, marketing manager, and most recently, senior market research project manager. In these roles, she spearheaded consumer insights research projects for various well-known brands, including United Way, Upwork, Clorox, P&G, Burt’s Bees, Noosa, Atkins, HomeAdvisor, and more. Working in teams of varying sizes, she has donned several hats over the years in the areas of account planning, strategy, and management.
Deepti re-entered academia to successfully complete a Ph.D. in Communication in 2023, and actively conducts research in areas at the intersection of communication, advertising, technology, surveillance, children and marginalized populations. She has published three peer reviewed articles in journals such as Advertising & Society Quarterly and Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, and a chapter in the Handbook of Organizational Communication Theory and Research. She has also presented at various conferences including AAA, AEJMC, ICA, and NCA. She received several awards, including the Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award from the Department of Communication, CMCI, at CU Boulder, and the Best Student Paper Award at AAA.
As a teacher and mentor, Deepti strives to create a safe space in her classrooms for students from different backgrounds. Her classes encourage engagement and enable students to develop an understanding of the more contentious and controversial aspects of topics under study.
Deepti received her Master’s in Psychology from the University of Pune, India; M.B.A. from the University of Nebraska Kearney; and Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder. She has lived in Colorado for over a decade with her partner and two children.
