Tyler Grimes' (b. in Wilmington, DE) practice-based research ponders paradox in order to provoke reconsiderations of one's perceptions and environmental relations. His projects span multimedia installations, emergent technologies, photography, videography, performance, and ecologically-engaged art projects. His research generally intersects ecomaterialism, the cognitive sciences, and contemplative practices.
Tyler has a background in visual communications, which is supplemented by a Photographic and Electronic Media MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. His research has received various grants, fellowships, been exhibited internationally, integrated into award-winning film productions, and featured in artist residencies. As a published writer and educator, he enjoys chatting about media and communication theory, philosophy, aesthetics, and nonsense.
