The Binning Family Foundation operates a fun, fast-paced Summer Film School in Littleton, Colorado. We are looking for energetic, artistic, and professional individuals to join our film team. Group Leaders help manage and instruct our students in the filmmaking process. If you enjoy working with youth, are a natural teacher, thrive in a creative environment, and have a passion for film, then you may be a great candidate for this position!
SFS is an eight-week program that begins Tuesday, June 2, 2026 and runs through the end of July. Group Leaders should be available Tuesday - Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Schedules shift in July to meet the needs of final film production, which will premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema on Tuesday, August 4. Group Leaders are seasonal employees of the foundation. Compensation is $18 - $20/hr depending on experience. Group Leaders should be pursuing their passion for film in a college or university setting or creating projects for fun or professionally
Essential Skills
Group Leaders will demonstrate a strong professional skill set including:
- Enjoys working with middle school and high school aged youth.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for the filmmaking process.
- Working knowledge of scriptwriting, filming, and post-production elements.
- Understanding the different elements of great storytelling (script, camera, sound and design).
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to have a lot of fun.
Specific Job Duties Include:
Assist your group from concept creation to finish.
For some groups, this may involve more work than others. Working with foundation staff, each Group
Leader is encouraged to find the necessary level of support that their group will need and then maintain that balance through the entire process.
Help your group members understand their role in the filmmaking process.
You are responsible for instructing each group member on their chosen role (writer, editor, director) and for coaching them on what that job entails. Additionally, you should become familiar with all the equipment, software, and techniques taught at the foundation to support your group.
Serve as your crew’s Executive Producer.
Working with youth filmmakers requires excellent organization and communication skills. Group
Leaders are responsible for communicating all aspects of their crews’ filmmaking process to foundation staff, parents, and the crew. Timely planning and proactive communication is a primary responsibility.
