Emett Casey
- Lecturer
Emett Casey is Colorado based filmmaker, working in both digital and analog traditions. After finishing his undergraduate at Chapman University, Emett lived and worked in the film industry in Los Angeles for over a decade before moving to Colorado. While in L.A. he was a member of the Echo Park Film Center, which helped strengthen his love for analog filmmaking and community engagement. In addition to lecturing, he continues to work as a freelance sound mixer and colorist, as well as a lab technician at a motion picture film lab.
As a director and artist his films run a spectrum from arthouse narrative to documentary to experimental abstraction. Concerned mostly with mythopoetics, Emett focuses on concepts of the identity and perception through myth, folklore, surrealism, fantasy, magic and ritual, with a generally subtle inclusion of humor, irony and satire.
