Hazel Barnes Prize

The nomination file must include the following.

1. A letter of nomination that speaks to the interrelationship between teaching and research in addition to the significance of the impact the nominee has had on the field, up to four pages.
2. Four letters from individuals internal and external to the University of Colorado Boulder who can evaluate the applicant's contributions. These letters should be no longer than two pages each and should address the interaction between research and teaching.
3. A curriculum vitae of the nominee, up to 10 pages.
4. FCQs of the nominee from the last seven years. Please provide the summary table only that includes the enrollment totals and level for undergraduate and graduate.
5. Student letters (four total) supporting the nominee’s outstanding teaching record are encouraged to strengthen the nomination. These can include graduate, undergraduate, current or past students.

The Hazel Barnes Prize selection committee comprises up to eight past recipients. Committee members generally serve on the committee for a three-year term. In years when more than eight past recipients wish to serve on the committee, the Chancellor or designee will appoint members with consideration of factors such as the disciplinary breadth of the committee membership and the balance between returning and new members. The Chancellor or designee appoints a committee chair from among the eight members.
