A travel experience that prepared me for Global Engineering RAP is when I visited England during a CE Intro to English Literature class. This experience prepared me for Global Engineering RAP as among the many monuments and tourist destinations we visited was the Channel Tunnel, or Chunnel for short. This monumental feat of engineering connects both England and France via road system under the English Channel. However, the most impressive part of the Chunnel is how many various engineers from nations, though mainly English and French, around the world came together to collaborate on the Chunnel. From simply seeing this culmination of engineers from around the globe working together to accomplish a task, allowed me to understand how important it is for anyone aspiring to be an engineer to be capable of working alongside other countries and their respective engineers/companies in order to engineer a better world for everyone.
A person I would want to live down the hall from me in Global Engineering RAP would ideally be someone who has three main characteristics; being friendly, driven, and a willingness to help others even if it requires they themselves to make some sort of sacrifice. Additionally, I would hope this person would be tolerant and open-minded of all the various cultures and their peoples around the world.
I want to be a member of Global Engineering RAP due to how I believe that this program will help better shape me into someone who can more efficiently and efficetevly work with various engineers and countries around the world while also learning and understanding those various countries. Furthermore, I believe that Global Engineering RAP will contribute to my this goal as it is will surround and uplift me with people who have similar goals and visions for how they want to help engineer a better world for all. I especially believe that Global Engineering RAP will help my training as an engineer as it will introduce me to its various well-rounded courses that are specifically tailored towards the goal of "working alongside countries, communities and other professionals to identify and dismantle the underlying causes of persistent global poverty, and elevate all people, and their environment, as Global Engineers" (CU Boulder Global Engineering Residential Academic Program Web Information Page). Additionally, I plan to personally contribute to the residential community by always giving 110% of my focus, attention, and drive for this community in order to better myself and the others around me.
