I have been able to travel to various destinations across the globe, such as Thailand and South Africa. These experiences, while fun, taught me that not every country has the same infrastructure as the United States. That it is a privilege that I'm able to drink from tap and know I won't become sick from the water. These experiences are what have led me to want to help create infrastructure in foreign countries, perhaps through programs like this one and Engineers without Borders.
The person who I'd like to live down the hall from me would be a social butterfly, they would be friends with everyone in the hall and always be there for anyone having a rough time. They would encourage group activities and create a sense of community with everyone in the Global Engineering program. I'd like them to be hardworking and in love with what they would learn about in class. I'd like them to be excited to graduate so they could go apply everything they've learned, but also somber to know the great group of people they worked so hard with to get this future, is a group of people they may not see again. I want the person down the hall to be passionate and friendly.
I'd like to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder because of my interests in the idea of global engineering and learning how we can improve our world. But also because I think everyone in this program living together would create a sense of community I want to be a part of, I'd love to meet people with similar passions to me who want to be able to help in any way they can while still being able to explore a passion in engineering.
