As part of my military family, I made my first overseas adventure when I was just three years old. From then until my pre-teen years, I moved between countries every two to three years. The most impactful experience by far was my two years spent attending an international school in Moscow, Russia. It was at this school that I grew an interest in other people's cultures. I began to seek out classmates who were from other countries and wanted to be a welcoming face for them, even if they could barely speak English. I now love communicating across language barriers and understanding someone through nonverbal cues. Communicating through body language, gestures, and facial expressions feels more personal and meaningful than simple words.
It's been some years since my traveling days, but I've retained what I learned from the experience. It's made me adaptable, resilient, worldly, and open-minded. I've dedicated my time since to my educational and extracurricular interests, but I'm eager to travel again. I'm ready to be back as a diplomat thriving in worlds outside of my own and connecting with the countless fascinating people within them.

In the Global Engineering RAP, I want to live with people who share the same level of passion as I do, but in a diverse range of interests. I want to be surrounded by inspired people who are motivated to make a mark on the world and are clear communicators of their visions. Most of all, I want a team that supports each other to reach goals, whether it's a common goal or an individual one.
The Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder offers a chance to take a step beyond the technical skills learned in the classroom. It presents an opportunity to use those technical skills in the world and create an impact on it. Engineers are meant to spearhead the technological advancements of societies. As a program built to boost societies that have been caught behind the wave, Global Engineering is the perfect step towards a transformative future–a future I intend to pioneer alongside my peers.
Not only will the Global Engineering RAP provide a gateway to a productive future, but it will develop the communication, leadership, and teamwork skills that I need to create it. But to learn these vital skills, I need a willingness to communicate, adapt, and execute, which is what I will bring to the CU Boulder Global Engineering RAP. I’m currently the leader of my group in an engineering capstone class at my high school. I’ve learned how to operate in a team and manage it, see the big picture to construct and follow a plan, and countless other components of what it means to be a team leader. These are also qualities I will bring to the Global Engineering community, then build upon during my time with the RAP. Lastly, I will bring my enthusiasm for witnessing new cultures and learning about lifestyles different from my own.
