Major in Mechanical Engineering and minor in French
English (5), French (3)
I haven't had many opportunities to travel or study abroad, but it has always been a passion of mine to immerse myself in another culture. I feel that by only learning about one country in a world with vast opportunities and knowledge in other countries, students do themselves a disservice. It is our duty to learn as much as we can from other advanced countries, and use our resources to teach countries that are less developed than America. I had always planned on studying abroad somewhere in Europe, preferably in France because I am learning to speak French. I believe that my drive to teach and learn from other countries makes me an excellent candidate for the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder.
I like to think that I can get along with most people. I have done multiple summer camps where I am thrown in with a brand new roommate and I have never had a bad experience. My I would love the peers in my hall to be social and want to explore the campus with me and make tons if new friends, but I don't want them to be too focused on partying. I want to be surrounded by people who are as dedicated as I am to my engineering and language studies. I believe that most people can get along if everyone puts in a little bit of effort to make amicable living conditions.
The Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder sounds like an extraordinary program to me. I have always wanted to major in mechanical engineering and tie in a minor in French. When I heard of a program that combines my two passions, I was ecstatic. The hall itself will contain plenty of other students who have the same interests as me, and I think that it would be amazing for my training as a future engineer. This focus on global engineering is unlike any program I have ever had the opportunity to experience. I would love to dedicate myself to a program like this one and help it grow to offer even more learning opportunities to student who come after me.
