Mechanical Engineering
English (5), Spanish (2)
I have currently worked for a construction company for the past two years and have a good understanding of how cost usually communicates to the quality of a building. During these years working in high-end residential, I have also learned and realized that the interior functionality of a building is usually lost the more expensive a house gets. As a result of working in the construction industry, I am surrounded by a culturally diverse population which has allowed me to use my Spanish to communicate with others in order to get the job done. One summer traveled to San Francisco a few years ago to shadow a construction company for a week. The company at the time was working on an electric railway within San Francisco. While shadowing, I got to tour the company's offices along with exploring the construction site and see blueprints turn into life.
In addition to having similar coursework to me, it would be pretty stellar to live near a person who shares the same outdoor interests as me, whether it is climbing or mountain biking. I would like for this person to be open-minded and not uptight with shared goals and outlook on life. For obvious reasons, it would be great to not be surrounded by people who think that they are better than you.
I would like to be promptly introduced to a good community that revolves around leadership and inclusion as I believe that a combination of these two results in a stronger individual. I also heavily enjoy helping others which is a characteristic trait I gained from my years in scouting. Due to this, I want to see how my engineering degree can be used to help people rather than just benefit myself.
