The summer before freshman year of high school, I visited my family in the Philippines and was apart of helping low-income children with food and school supplies. My experience there enhanced my perspective of how I can create change and the chances I have in my education to get there. My goals in the future are to continue growing myself, and to cultivate my understanding of the world in the hopes of creating solutions to the global issues of poverty, sanitation, food, water, etc.
I would want the person who lives down the hall from me to be open minded, supportive, friendly, and willing to push one another to do better. Another aspect would be someone who likes to study, likes coffee, and is a fan of Dominic Fike. Also, someone who likes movies, films, music and is also open to debating ideas. Overall, I would want to be apart of a community where we can grow in each other's unique interests, push one another towards our goals, and collaborate together in creating innovative solutions.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder because I would be able to share and learn new ideas and perspectives with others to make a global impact. This program helps students grow in knowledge of cultures and global awareness to help create solutions of the structural injustices of basic services: water, sanitation, energy, food, and shelter. I believe that in the Global Engineering RAP, not only will I be able to help people in need to live in health, prosperity, and dignity, but I will also have the opportunity to be apart of a community with similar goals. I would also be able to contribute and learn skills beyond what I can learn in class. I find this program in sync in my interests and what I want to be apart of beyond being an Engineering student at CU Boulder. Also, I am excited to learn new cultures and become apart of and grow together with other motivated and passionate students in this program. Moreover, I want to further my passion in engineering by being apart of this collaborative environment, where I can strive to contribute to this generation's ideas and actions that will shape the future.
