Moving halfway around the globe at the age of 10 simply furthered my appreciation for human diversity in opinion and skillset. Striking differences between South Asian and American lifestyle, culture, and landscapes–from removing shoes at the doorstep to wearing them around the house, overhearing my parents compare the political nature of India and America, and simply being amazed by Target for the very first time–made me realize how vastly diverse the world truly is and why all outlooks should be given equal respect. Additionally, my family took a trip to Malaysia when I was younger, and I can still feel the euphoria of being in the capital's Bird Park. Kaleidoscopes of vivid feathers danced around me as I was left speechless by the immense amount of diversity. Now, I want to implement the same feeling at Boulder, and what better way to pursue it than by joining the Global Engineering RAP!
I would love to be down the hall from individuals with diverse experiences, mindsets, and objectives! I want to be surrounded by peers who will push me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to try new foods and experiences; whether it be spontaneously hiking a mountain at 1 AM or hanging out in hammocks between classes. It will be fun to hangout with Buffs who share my passion for the great outdoors–spending our weekends hiking, paddleboarding, while infinitely stopping for boba and chicken nuggets!
The Global Engineering RAP at CU Boulder offers countless opportunities to expand one's horizons. I am excited to collaborate and approach engineering challenges through diverse lenses of creativity. I know this community will challenge me to broaden my understanding of the world and the issues within it; moreover, it will not just diversify how I approach engineering issues, but it will also transform the way I perceive engineering. As a woman of color in STEM, I am excited to share my experiences with my peers to attack engineering issues great and small!
