During the summer of my junior year, my family and I took a trip to Germany. The trip was a great look into how distance and time can change similar cultures. While there were clear similarities to the culture of the United States, learning about the differences was quite interesting and made the trip one of my favorites. Since the trip, I have found great joy in learning about others and am excited for the opportunity to help others.
The person I would want to live down the hall from me would be considerate of all people, regardless of where they are from. As a result, they would be caring and willing to help those in need. They may also be from or have knowledge about cultures I know little about and be willing to talk about it to me. In all, I would hope that the person living down the hall from me in the Global Engineering RAP would be willing to help others and knowledgeable about things that I'm not.
I want to be a part of the Global Engineering RAP because I think it will allow me to become a better engineer and person by learning more about others. By being a part of a community that focuses on others and their well-being, I can become more knowledgeable about how engineering and how I can use my education to help those who are less fortunate.
