I am a first-generation American. My mom is from Egypt and my dad is from Iran. As a result, I have traveled extensively. I have been to Egypt, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, as well as the majority of the states. I would love to study abroad as it expands my knowledge and the experience will last me a lifetime.
I would like someone who is studious and serious, but also has a sense of humor and overcomes challenging situations and setbacks. Someone who is motivated to succeed and has good time management skills and has their priorities in order. Preferably someone who has interests and hobbies I can learn from; someone I can study with.
As a first-generation American with parents who immigrated from developing countries, I feel the Global Engineering FYAE at CU is a perfect fit. My grandmother's Ph.D. in Civil Engineering included a thesis on efficient hydraulic and irrigation systems and was inspired by the water shortage in her home country, Egypt. I would like to make my family proud by being a great engineer who is also a contributing global citizen. I am certain being a member of this community will help me achieve this goal. It will allow me to be a better student since I will be more focused on tasks and better able to cultivate relationships with like-minded individuals. This is also the best way for me to learn about the world and our role in shaping it for the better. It is my hope that I will be able to study abroad and use my knowledge and skills to help others.
