Electrical Engineering
English (5)
I have been to Mexico twice and Belize once. For both Mexico trips I stayed at an orphanage, doing work like painting and playing with a lot of the other kids there. In Belize, I spent most of my time at an elementary school, also helping out and playing with the kids.
Engineering while also thinking of the needs and perspectives of people outside your own community allows for more accessible advancements. Thinking about how engineering projects can address other communities' needs is necessary to make them available to these communities. Things like distributing solar panels to remote villages or allowing easier clean water access can make a massive difference in the lives of these people. Making new developments with other people's needs in mind is an important part of engineering as a field.
I am interested in the Global Engineering RAP because I want to make a difference in the lives of people around the world. I want to understand the impact that I can make on the world and contribute to the lessening of global issues. I am interested in the application of engineering in addressing global challenges like clean water availability, energy, sanitation, and food. Being encouraged to take into account perspectives of different people around the world will help me become a more versatile and empathetic engineer and person. I want to be a part of a community that can both improve myself and feel like my actions will make a genuine positive impact on the lives of others.
