I have traveled to Japan where their environmental and social habits differ from ours. For example, the capital Tokyo is the cleanest, most well-kept city I have ever seen, as there was no trash can or outside eating area in sight. In addition, Along with ten other volunteers, we provided free dental work for the indigenous people of Guatemala. For a week, we traveled along the highlands to several villages where we both examined patients and granted procedures such as extractions and fillings. While I assisted doctors during procedures and overlooked sanitation, I also interacted with the patients and made sure they felt as comfortable as possible. Although the long days of work started off as unorganized and hectic, with everyone's input and open minds, we were able to develop an efficient system that assisted everyone's needs. Not only did I learn the true meaning of teamwork, but I also gained incredible experiences of new cultures, perspectives, and languages. I worked with people who were of completely different backgrounds and who expanded my thinking immensely. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The person I would want to live down the hall from me would be someone who prioritizes their hygiene, is extremely friendly, considerate of others, wants to be in the social life of CU Boulder, but also balances/prioritizes school, and is serious about being a global engineer. Who is adventurous and enjoys the outdoors, positive, mature, emotionally intelligent, kind, and an overall good person. Someone who is spontaneous, doesn't take themselves seriously, and can always have a good time despite the circumstances.
When asked to describe myself using one word, consistently, I choose “authentic”. I’ve slowly but surely learned that my greatest power is simply being me. My confidence and love for myself have helped me through every decision, every hardship, and ultimately every instance of my life. Sadly, this quality is hard to find amongst those my age. However, I solely believe that I inspire others to do the same in never compromising themselves for anyone. My devotion to staying true to my identity doesn’t only morph me into an ever-growing, open-minded, and creative student– it makes me a better human being while encouraging others to do the same.

Side note: for my resume, I encourage you to look at my general application for scholarships. It has completely every activity of mine and provides an in-depth overview of who I am as a person.

Thank you for your time and consideration!
