Last summer, I traveled with some friends to Paris, France. It was a trip without our parents, so we got to really experience the city and its culture. It was amazing doing things that the French did, living like them for the 2 weeks we stayed there. I got really immersed in the culture, and got to learn so much about the city and the country. Going there with people my age especially helped with my experience, as I genuinly experienced the Paris lifestyle outside of the tourist attractions. I believe my time in Paris was an indicator for how suited I am for a program like Global Engineering. On top of my friends only trip, I have visited India multiple times, sometimes for months. I consider myself accustomed to the traditions and daily lifestyle of my aunt and uncle, who live and meditate in the Himalayas. Visiting them is the most ethereal experience, as I get to witness the mountains but also the mountain people. During trips to India, I also get to experience city life with my Grandmother in New Delhi. Overall, my experience with adapting and enjoying time overseas displays how prepared I am for the Global Engineering program.
The person living down the hall would preferably be someone who I can talk to about what I like, or in other words someone passionate about engineering, sports, comics, video games, or just one of those things. All I'm really looking for in a house-mate is someone who I connect with on any level, who I can talk to without feeling ignored. The person should be open minded and hopefully not completely secluded. Overall I;m hoping for someone friendly and ready to experience new things with me.
I want to be a part of this program because I believe I meet the checklist of what a RAP engineer is. Reading through what a RAP student is, I found myself agreeing with the program's mottos and goals. Like other students in the program, I want to make a global impact and be able to learn something beyond the technicalities of engineering. I want to be a part of the community that RAP fosters, where like minded people can collaborate and form relationships that last throughout my life. All the components of the RAP program spell out an incredible experience for me as I uncover the intricacies behind engineering.
