While I have not engaged in any study abroad experiences to this date, this coming July I am participating in the German American Partnership Program (GAPP) with other students from my high school's German department. This experience will last for three weeks and will be a great glimpse into another culture that will aid in developing my global awareness. Moreover, starting my Engineering coursework not long after will be a great transition into merging my passions for science and math in Engineering with the culture and language of visiting a foreign country for the first time.
In the Global Engineering RAP, I would want a fellow student who is passionate about learning about both Engineering and other world cultures to live down the hall from me. To have a fellow companion sharing in the same academic journey as me is a great tool that I'd love to have available for others to use and one that I'd like to utilize myself. Beyond just that, I'd want someone who is open-minded and curious, just like me, to talk to and discuss whatever interests us as we aspire to learn as much as we can so we can make the most positive change that we can in the world. Moreover, I'd want someone who I can have fun with to live down the hall from me so that we can both improve each other's time at CU Boulder.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP to integrate my passion for learning about other cultures and their languages with the academic disciplines relevant to Engineering. This community will train me with a global mindset as I develop my Engineering skills alongside my peers as we collaborate and mentor each other as we become more capable of making positive change in the world. It will also contribute to me as a person by making me a global citizen that is aware and interactive with the world outside the US. Personally, I plan to contribute to this community by being forthcoming and service-minded, taking as many chances as I can to help others, while maintaining my own progress. I also plan to contribute by encouraging others and doing everything I can to ensure that we all make the most of this great opportunity.
