I have traveled abroad to Leeds and London, England, Coupvray, France, and Cancun, Mexico. Though each trip was only for a short time, a week or two for each, they left a strong desire to continue to travel and experience other cultures. My family and I are planning on visiting Italy this summer. I also plan to study abroad as part of my college education. My sister did this the fall semester of her junior year, and she said it was one of the best experiences of her life and helped her gain a greater appreciation and understanding of Europe. I believe being part of the Global Engineering RAP will give me the opportunity to experience and learn from other cultures and will help me be more prepared to study abroad.
I hope the person who lives down the hall from me in the Global Engineering RAP is someone with similar core values (honesty, loyalty, fairness, etc.) and work ethic but who is able to share a different cultural experience (dance, food, a different way of looking at things, etc.) so that I can grow as a person while I am at CU.
I want to be a member of the Global Engineering RAP to get to know other engineering students and also have my classes close to me. I'm coming from out of state and think it would be helpful to have classes closer to where I live so the campus doesn't feel as big. Having smaller classes will also make it easier to make friends as I won’t be bombarded by so many people. I can contribute because I am coming from a different state (Texas), which can give a different perspective. I am friendly and looking forward to connecting with and learning from others with diverse cultural backgrounds.
