Since I was little, my parents traveled frequently. Because of this, I have had many opportunities to travel to amazing places. For 4 years, 2012-2016, my mom and I would go out of the country for Christmas Break. The first year was Paris, France; the second was Rome, Italy; the third was London, England; and the fourth year was Cairo, Egypt. More recently, my mom married my step-dad who is from Germany, and we went to visit his family over Christmas 2021 in Freudenberg. These are some of my fondest memories; I loved seeing the beautiful historical sites such as the Eiffel Tower, Pompeii, Big Ben, the Pyramids, and so much more. I also plan to go backpacking through Europe for about two weeks this summer with my mom, something we've planned to do after I graduate high school for many years.
I would love to have someone down the hall that shares a love for music. I grew up around festivals and concerts, and I also play the flute. It would be amazing to have someone to share that with so close. I would also hope they were in some of the same classes with me so we could work together on projects and homework. Also someone who is a night owl, which I am myself; it would be nice to have someone to hang out with quietly later in the evenings.
Truthfully, I didn't give it an extraordinary amount of thought at first, but my Uncle has a colleague whose son recently graduated from the program and spoke very highly of it. Funny enough, later on the same day he told me about it is when I received the email inviting me to join the program. I went onto the site and researched the program more, finding that there weren't as many requirements as I feared since I am already planning to join the Engineering Leadership Program and Society of Women Engineers. I hope the dorms would connect me with other people interested in the same topics as I am, perhaps even enough as lifelong friends.
