Our promise to get back to you with most pertinent answers through CU-Boulder’s expert networks
Geotechnical Engineering & Geomechanics
A broad spectrum of topics cover the behavior of soil, rock, geosynthetics, and other porous media. Emphasis is placed on integrating engineering analyses with experimental observations to form the basis of static and dynamic designs for geotechnical engineering structures
CIEST Expert: Prof. Srikanth Madabhushi
Structural Engineering and Structural Mechanics
Focus is on the mechanics of solids, mechanics of structures, and structural engineering. At the micro level we enhance the understanding of materials through experiments and numerical simulation. As we moved up the scale, laboratory experiments and more complex computer simulations are adopted and further along test of complex structures such as building, bridges, dams and nuclear containment structures are the subjects of interest.
CIEST Expert: Prof. Mija Hubler
Materials Science and Engineering
Covers fundamental experimental and theoretical studies at multiple length, spatial, and temporal scales of materials relevant to the CEAE discipline. Interdisciplinary research area offers a wide variety of cutting-edge topics related to traditional and emerging materials systems, experimental methods, and advanced computational analyses.
