In collaboration with VISIONS and Tënk this curated selection of shorts from Mimesis 2025 weaves together four distinct yet resonant meditations on power, resistance, and the search for meaning in our fractured world. From the interconnected threads of ecological destruction and geopolitical violence witnessed through a filmmaker’s domestic lens, to the dim recesses of Chicago’s subterranean scene where emerging voices pursue transformation amid surveillance and urban cacophony, mapping spaces of resistance against current hegemonic forces. Collectively, these films create a network of present-day cinematic inquiry that affirms the transformative power of moving images to reveal concealed relationships, capture fleeting realities, and envision new cartographies of possibility within our uncertain times.
