Lauren Oertel is a junior in the Program of Environmental Design at the University of Colorado Boulder specializing in sustainable urban planning. She recently began narrowing her design focus to find solutions for environmental injustice. She hopes to work with disadvantaged communities that are or will be heavily impacted by climate change in the coming years. Despite primarily being an urban planner, she has great interest in the discipline of landscape architecture as well. Through her career she hopes to implement nature into her planning work to build adaptable and resilient environments for communities who are often forgotten about. Her extracurriculars include biathlon, gardening and volunteerism.
