CEDaR Writing Sessions

Writing

CEDaR Writing Sessions provide a dedicated, supportive space for faculty, students, and researchers to focus on their writing projects in community. These sessions are designed to help participants build consistent writing habits, share progress, and stay connected with others engaged in scholarly and creative work.

Each session begins with a brief (under one minute) check-in, where participants share their goals for the hour. The remainder of the session is quiet writing time — laptops open, coffee nearby, and collective focus in the air. At the end, everyone gives a quick update on what they accomplished.

The atmosphere is collegial, relaxed, and occasionally fueled by humor. As one participant put it, the sessions are “two thumbs up,” “the best invention after non-caffeinated bread,” and proof that “Shawhin’s fashion choices are as bold as his writing productivity strategies.”

CEDaR Writing Sessions are held every Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in the CEDaR Office (ENVD 213). Join us to turn writing from a solitary task into a shared, energizing practice.
