The Business Analytics Area of Emphasis focuses on the exciting and fast-growing field of data science and management. This interdisciplinary emphasis teaches students how to interpret and use data to drive strategic business decisions. Coursework emphasizes the application of new tools and statistical methods to solve problems in marketing, supply chains, operations and other key business disciplines. This technical, quantitative curriculum prepares students for in-demand roles as consultants, analysts and managers in virtually every industry.

The Finance Area of Emphasis is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge and skills to enter the financial services industry, including career paths in corporate and public finance, banking, and personal and institutional wealth management. Students study foundational concepts in accounting, financial analysis, financial reporting, and macroeconomics as well as specialized areas including mergers and acquisitions, valuation, entrepreneurship, derivative securities, and foreign exchange markets. Students also benefit from access to the Burridge Center for Finance, the CU Real Estate Center, and numerous student-run clubs.

In the Management Area of Emphasis, students learn an entrepreneurial approach to business and apply it in solving problems unique to their career interests. Students graduate with the ability to work effectively in team settings, navigate complex organizations, and advocate for their ideas and value as a professional. To further define their professional ambitions, students complete a specialized track that provides deeper industry exposure in the fields of their choice. Students graduating from the Management Information Systems Area of Emphasis know how to organize digital resources, solve business problems, and develop cutting-edge technologies. Students are trained to solve deep problems using tools, methods and techniques for addressing issues related to the adoption of new technologies in organizations. These technologies are used to get the right information to the right people at the right time.

Students in the Marketing Area of Emphasis find career opportunities in digital marketing and analytics, making use of big data to understand and serve customers. They also take positions in sales and sales management, public relations, marketing and communications, advertising agencies, pricing, channels of distribution and logistics, retail management, international marketing, and business-to-business marketing.

While many CU students explore careers in the financial side of commercial real estate, this industry offers a vast array of career paths, including investment, development, asset/ property management, title insurance, valuation, sales, and marketing.

Students in the Sustainable Business Area of Emphasis will be introduced to values-based decision-making and learn how sustainable business principles apply across various areas of an organization. Through hands-on projects, case studies, competitions, and analysis of real-world business practices, students gain practical experience in applying these concepts. Coursework in leadership and governance equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to drive meaningful change and foster social responsibility within organizations.

The Supply Chain Management area of emphasis focuses on this creative process and identifies how organizations use productivity, quality, flexibility, timeliness, and technology to compete and prevail in their markets. Students graduating from the Supply Chain Management emphasis will have a broad understanding of the importance of operations in the success of any organization and will be qualified to serve in entry-level line management positions and as general managers later in their careers.
