Join us on December 1 at 9 am via zoom to hear guest speaker,  Mika LaVaque-Manty, Director of LSA Honors Program, Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan explore ways of incorporating the logic and structure of successful games in course design. Based on a dozen years of experimentation at the University of Michigan, Mika LaVaque-Manty will talk about his and his colleagues’ path from surface-level gamification (such as naming assignments “quests” or replacing grades with points and levels) to designs that motivate students to explore and foster their autonomy. 

These sessions are open to all who are interested! Attendance to prior sessions and RSVPs are not required.

Come join us to get a jumpstart on designing your class and learn some pro-tips for your Canvas course. Designing your Canvas course can be an exciting opportunity to organize, share information, and engage with your learners! Join ASSETT and OIT’s Learning Technology Consultants to learn more about best practices, technology tools and get hands-on in this workshop. Faculty can partner with CU Learning Designers to get resources, best practices, and individualized help to create their Spring courses. Attending this workshop will provide faculty with time and space to work on preparing their Canvas course and give ideas for creating engaging opportunities for students. All levels and course formats are welcome!

Do you teach a large lecture course in the college of Arts & Sciences? Are you looking for ways to best support the students in your course? Integration of metacognition and wellbeing practices into large lecture courses can help to alleviate student stress and increase their success in the course! The ASSETT Innovation Incubator Metacognition & Wellbeing team is seeking faculty and instructors interested in participating in a spring 2022 6-session learning community focused on student metacognition and wellbeing in large lecture courses. 

If you’re curious about using games and simulations in your classes, and are interested in engaging with colleagues from across the west, the ASSETT Innovation Incubator Student Success team invites faculty, instructors, and graduate students from CU Boulder to participate in a two-day spring 2022 Reacting to the Past conference. 

Together, will explore Reacting to the Past (RTTP) pedagogy which involves role-playing games in historical scenarios. You’ll gain the expertise from invited guest speakers and student panelists who will address the benefits of RTTP. And, have the opportunity to participate in a two-day game to experience what is expected from your students. Meet our esteemed RTTP Game Masters!
