Design Across 8+ Length Scales

Together with United Technologies Research Center, Professors Maute and Doostan have received a 4-year contract from the DARPA’s TRADES Program to develop an Adaptive Multi-Resolution Design Optimization Framework that allows designing complex multi-physics problems continuously across 8 length scales, accounting for uncertainty in geometry, material, and operating conditions.

One of four centers within the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, the Center for Aerospace Structures (CAS) is concerned with the analysis and design of complex high-performance materials, structures and systems, predominantly for aeronautical and space applications. This includes the development of innovative computational analysis and design techniques as well as the application of these techniques and methods to novel, exciting aerospace problems.
