$4.75 Million in Gifts Make Late Boulderite Largest-Ever Individual Donor to CU Buffs Louise Bennett Reed, who passed away at age 103 last June, gave gifts totaling more than $4.75 million for University of Colorado at Boulder athletic scholarships, making her the largest individual donor to the CU-Boulder Athletics department.

New CU-Boulder Research Effort Discovers Ancient Maya Intensively Cultivated Manioc A University of Colorado at Boulder team has uncovered an ancient and previously unknown Maya agricultural system -- a large manioc field intensively cultivated as a staple crop that was buried and exquisitely preserved under a blanket of ash by a volcanic eruption in present-day El Salvador 1,400 years ago.
Online Oil Shale Report Released by CU's Center of the American West According to Colorado lore, a settler named Mike Callahan came to the state's Western Slope in 1882 and settled along Parachute Creek. He built a log cabin from the sturdy pines of the area and finished it off with a fireplace and chimney made from the abundant rocks he found on nearby hills. But when he lit a fire in the hearth his housewarming suddenly took on new meaning when the chimney rocks burst into flames, engulfing the entire house.
