Tenure-Track Faculty: Comprehensive Review
Note: Timelines are tentative and all dates, etc. are subject to change.
A&S Website for reappointment, promotion, and tenure
Mar: Department chair appoints PUEC committee (three tenured faculty members).
Mar/Apr: two peer evaluation letters + classroom interviews if needed (faculty member conducting classroom interviews can also write a peer evaluation letter).
June 1: Submit cv and publications to PUEC chair (consult PUEC chair for deadline). Information on candidate materials.
June-July: Submit faculty teaching, research, and service statements to PUEC for review (consult PUEC chair for deadline). Information on candidate materials.
Aug 1: CV, faculty teaching, research, and service statements, reseach materials and additional teaching materials due to Business Manager. Information on candidate materials
Aug: PUEC + department chair organizational meeting (can also be done by email). PUEC committee members should submit a draft of their portion of the PEUC letter to the PUEC chair 1-3 days before the early September PEUC meeting/vote. Information on PUEC letters.
Aug/Sept: candidate should be given access to dossier (excluding confidential materials such as external and student letters).
Aug/early Sept: PUEC + dept chair meets, PUEC votes (PUEC vote is done electronically, department chair votes with department). PEUC committee members should submit a final draft of their portion of the PUEC letter to the PUEC chair 2-5 days after this meeting. Information on PUEC letters.
Sept (early): Draft of PUEC letter due to department chair for review (chair should have three days to review). Information on PUEC letters. Guidance for PUEC (A&S website)
Sept (early/mid): Draft of PUEC letter due to candidate (candidate should have three days to review).
Sept (/mid): PUEC letter due
Sept (mid): voting faculty review faculty dossier (2 weeks to review)
Sept (mid/late): faculty meet and vote (faculty in rank above candidate) – PUEC does vote with voting faculty
September 25: draft of Chair’s letter due to candidate. Candidate should have three days to review
Sept (late): Chair’s letter due.
October 1: Dossier due to A&S. Before classroom interviews, include a cover sheet with the following: “Faculty member observing class met with students at end of class, after teaching faculty member had been excused. All students were asked to fill out classroom interview form, and all returned forms are included in dossier.”
