Join us for the 5K Family Fun Run/Walk through CU's beautiful campus. Friends and family of all ages are welcome. Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. Registration includes a T-shirt, refreshments, and fun! Black Holes

The mysteries of black holes, including what it would be like to fall into one, will be explored at the University of Colorado at Boulder's Fiske Planetarium.

CU-Boulder Professor Andrew Hamilton will present "Black Holes," which is geared toward students in grades five through nine.

The CU Wizards show will feature an artificial black hole where volunteers from the audience will leap off a treadmill onto a crash mat to illustrate falling into a black hole. They will learn why nothing can get out of a black hole and what would actually happen to a person who fell into one. The audience also will make tornadoes on stage.

This show, produced by the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, provides a never-before-seen journey into the culture of the Skidi Band of the Pawnee Native American Nation. Produced in collaboration with Pawnee Tribal Elders, you will get a glimpse into a fascinating society that was almost lost to history. This landmark show bridges science, history, and anthropology to tell the story of a noble people and their enduring relationship with the sky. "Spirits from the Sky" artfully weaves the changing postitions of stars and planets with visual representations of artifacts from Pawnee star and sky lore rituals. With an introduction written and narrated by Pulitzer Prize Winner N. Scott Momaday, the presentation draws upon both archival sources and the personal recollections of the Pawnee Elders.

Child and Youth International Film Series

The Center for Children, Youth and Environment and the CU Outreach Committee have put together an international film series to enrich the cultural experience for youth and adults. Each of these is an award winning film from a different country. We designed the series to expose audience members to excellent film and an opportunity to view the world of youth in various places. Each film speaks to a larger social issue that effects youth today.

Each film will have a hands-on activity related to the film. Cost is $1 per youth, the accompanying teacher is free! For questions and reservations, please email the series coordinator: Pevec@colorado.edu
