The ENVD program offers its students access to specialized workshop and study facilities at the Creative Labs Center (CLC) which is located in the university's Center for Innovation and Creativity (CINC), on the CU-Boulder East Campus. The educational and research activities in the ENVD Creative Labs Center are supported by state-of-the-art analog and digital fabrication equipment. These Labs include woodworking tools, metal welding, and shaping equipment as well as digitally (computer) controlled laser cutting machines and 3-Axis CNC routers.
A mandatory "Basic Safety Orientation," conducted at the beginning of the semester, is required for all students before being granted access to the CLC. This course is an introduction to the college’s safety policies as well as the proper use of personal safety equipment and safe operation of the fabrication equipment. Once attended, access to the facilities and all of its resources will be available for researching and prototyping your design solutions. Fabrication lab hours of operation vary according to demand and semester but typically include some weekend and evening access. Lab Monitors are always on duty and available to assist students anytime the labs are open.
The computers in this lab are routinely updated with the newest versions of 3D design software and are available for individual student use seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
The Creative Labs at the CINC facility support ENVD course work and are not available for non program or private use. Creative lab hours vary according to demand and semester.
