Xavier Fonoll Almansa
- Postdoctoral Researcher
- UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN

Dr. Xavier Fonoll Almansa got his PhD in Engineering and Advanced Technologies from the University of Barcelona in 2015. He is now a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Professor Lutgarde Raskin at the University of Michigan. He has a big expertise on the microbial aspects of anaerobic bio-technologies to transform different organic wastes (food waste, agricultural wastes,...) into methane or platform chemicals. Within REFRESCH, an interdisciplinary research community working on effective solutions for sustainable energy, clean water and food security in resource-constrained communities, Dr. Fonoll Almansa is collaborating by implementing anaerobic digestion in Gabon as a tool for waste management, energy production and sanitation enhancement.
