Sital Uprety is a Ph.D. candidate in Environmental Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign studying water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) in low-income settings. He uses advanced microbial technologies to understand the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on WaSH. He has previously studied WaSH in post-emergency settings after the 2015 Nepal earthquake and is currently working on evaluating the impact of WaSH Intervention on the reduction of pathogen loads in the household in Nepal. Every year, Sital leads a team of undergraduate students for sample collection in Nepal and processing and exposes them to development work. Sital has a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri and an MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois.
