Sanitation Service Advisor
SOIL

In 2017, Jess joined SOIL as an in-house advisor for their household container-based sanitation service which is transforming waste into resources in urban Haiti. At SOIL she has been able to build on her previous social enterprise experience in Haiti on water treatment distribution. Jess has focused on process redesign to improve efficiency and resiliency of operations as well as capacity building. In these endeavors she has helped to hone mobile data collection practices and data management to provide regular operational feedback loops to inform operational decision-making. SOIL is on the cusp of proving that affordable, sustainable sanitation services are within reach of the 700+ million people living in urban communities around the world that haven’t historically had a technology or service model that could viably provide them with safely-managed sanitation services.

Jess graduated in 2014 from Tufts University with a BA in International Relations and a concentration in Global Health, Nutrition and the Environment and has been living and working in Haiti since. Jess is passionate about the power of mission-driven business to meet critical WASH needs in contexts like Haiti. Jess loves that SOIL’s approach is both a preventative and mitigative model for climate change by leveraging a resilient circular economy approach.
